- Two roads matter: the main street (Ella–Wellawaya road) with the station and cafés, and Passara Road, which leads to Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge. We’re on Passara Road, about 500 metres from town.
- Mornings are clearer. Showers often roll in after midday, so hike early.
- Evenings are cool. Bring a layer for dinner on the terrace.
- Carry some cash. Many small places don’t take cards. ATMs are on the main street and at the railway station.
- Trains share the tracks with walkers. Step well clear when you hear a horn.
